"Paul D. Pate, Jr." is an American businessman and politician from the State of Iowa. A member of the Republican Party (United States)/Republican Party, he currently serves as the 30th Secretary of State to the State of Iowa. He previously served as the 28th Secretary of State from 1995 to 1999. He also served in the Iowa Senate from 1989 to 1995 and as the Mayor of Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Cedar Rapids from 2002 to 2006. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Governor of Iowa in Iowa gubernatorial election, 1998/1998.
