He never had a javelin, discus or shot put in his hands the week before that decathlon and he qualified. He had great hurdles, a great 400, great 1500 -- stuff where he's good. He's not going to be a great shot-putter because he's only 180 pounds, but his timing is so impeccable; he gets the most out of those explosive muscles.

This is where he's an amazing athlete and amazing guy. All this stuff is pure joy for him. He doesn't feel pressure, saying 'I'm a state champ and have to show it.
