The only reason we didn't add it at the time is that Old Salem wanted a more visual historic quality than concrete apron so we pulled it out of the contract and did it separately.

We've said all along that it should be eliminated because the highway's official designation is U.S. 421. We get calls all the time from people who are lost because they are mixed up. Calling that road Business 40 does nothing but confuse motorists because they don't know where they're going.

We've always felt that this Business 40 effort could be a model for other projects.

The workshop is not open to the public, but lots of folks from the public will be taking part.

We typically identify the roads that need resurfacing about a year in advance of contracts being awarded.

The whole point of this is to generate ideas. Innovation, that's the key. That's what we're interested in.

If they can get in there at 9:30 a.m., they can get a lot done. It's not the most efficient way to do it, but it's better than trying to get in there and work during rush hour.

We don't want to waste a lot of money if removing the bridge is the ultimate plan.
