"Patrick Joseph "Pat" Hanlon" was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.

Hanlon was born in 1930 to Ned Hanlon (politician)/Edward Michael and Elizabeth Hanlon (née Carver). His father went on to be Premier of Queensland from 1946 to 1952.

In 1956 Hanlon won his father's old seat of Electoral district of Ithaca/Ithaca in a by-election to replace the former member Leonard Eastment who had died in July that year. He held the seat till he decided to stand for the seat of Electoral district of Baroona/Baroona at the Queensland state election, 1960/1960 state election. Hanlon remained as member till his retirement from politics in 1974.

Often called the best Labor leader the ALP never had, Hanlon died in 2014.

The classes didn't change my opinion on drinking, but they did give me a chance to see where I was being irresponsible. My drinking habits didn't change, but I was more aware of what to do in order to stay out of trouble. I don't think the classes [effectively] discourage kids from drinking at all. Alcohol 101 may be useless for many people who just get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
