I think in 2006 we will introduce another Perrier, ... Some people want an international award, to separate the British from others, and others still want a pure standup award, with no slides or sketch comedy. It's my job now to canvass opinion as to what it should be.

The Perrier is about helping to discover new talent, ... In years to come, this generation of young comedians who are stepping into the spotlight will be setting the heather alight.

How fitting, in the 25th year, that out of the blue a young woman of extraordinary talent should be discovered in an out of the way venue and become the surprise winner and only the second solo woman to win the Perrier.
