Losing those players really hurt us. In the second half, we continued to play on, but couldn't score. It was a good team effort, and a very disappointing loss. I felt as if we could have come out on top if not for the injuries.
We had some scoring opportunities, but got frustrated when the shots wouldn't fall. Considering we had been off for spring break, we didn't play too badly. We had some great runs, but missed the shot.
Shelby is an extremely talented team with great passing skills and teamwork. We just couldn't do anything right in the first half. We really struggled getting to the ball and our first touches were off. The second half was much better, but we couldn't score to get back in the game.
Hopefully, with two days of practice before we go to Alexander Central, we can get reorganized. We are a much better team than the score shows, but we just had one of those nights where we couldn't get in sync with each other.
It was a great win. Jessica Smith had an unbelievable game. She did a fantastic job getting the ball in scoring position.
We haven't found the right combination on the field yet. I feel that we have many skillful players and it will take a few games to get acclimated to the high school playing level.
