"Mikhail Mikhailovich Youzhny, PhD" (}}; born 25 June 1982), nicknamed ""Mischa"" and ""Colonel"" by his fans," "is a Russian professional tennis player who was ranked inside the top 10 and was the Russian No. 1. He achieved a top-10 ranking by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for the first time on 13 August 2007, and reached a career peak of World No. 8 in January 2008, and again in October 2010.

It's a great win. There are five good players in our team who are ready to play either in the singles or doubles.

In the first set, when I did not feel pain, the result was like it should be. In the second set, I felt pain when I was serving at 1-0 and my play changed.

The French played better on key points -- even when we had break points they served perfectly. Our poor teamwork was not the reason for our defeat -- the French pair just played better today.

I played a great match, but I think the crowd played a big part today, ... There were so many spectators cheering for me that it probably helped me to play even better.

I am really happy because I finally won a tournament after two years, ... I had been playing well but, for some reason, I couldn't win a tournament.
