I think we need to focus on the basics, not the marquee names and causes. Just saying 'thank you' and 'please' is a good start; some simple ways of showing compassion and courtesy to each other. On a personal note, my dad died the same year that Dr. King was killed. I was only eight years old at the time and I took both losses personally. What I took from Dr. King's life and message was dedication. He wanted us all to dedicate our lives to something. And I believe that you have to be dedicated to something in order to have a fulfilling life.
