"Michael John Atkinson", an Australian politician, is the 34th Speaker of the South Australian House of Assembly, serving since 5 February 2013. First elected to the House at the South Australian state election, 1989/1989 election, Atkinson is Father of the House#Australia/Father of the House.

Prior to his appointment as Speaker, Atkinson was the South Australian Attorney-General of South Australia/Attorney-General, Minister for Justice, Minister for Veterans' Affairs, and Minister for Multicultural Affairs in the Mike Rann/Rann Australian Labor Party/Labor Government. A day after the South Australian state election, 2010/2010 election, he stepped down as Attorney-General and resigned from the Cabinet. Atkinson represents the electorate of Electoral district of Croydon (South Australia)/Croydon in the South Australian House of Assembly.

He was a member of the Australian Journalists Association whilst working for the The Advertiser (Adelaide)/Adelaide Advertiser. He is currently a member of the Australian Services Union.

Traditionally, women have done cosmetic surgery to be competitive along beauty standards. Now men are doing that but for competition in the workplace. These guys are competing along lines of status and power in a market economy.

One of the biggest drivers in the male marketplace now in cosmetic surgery is men who are 40-plus who use this as a tool to look healthy, to look young, to look vibrant.
