"Matthew Thomas Coles" is an English cricketer. He is a Fast bowling/fast-medium bowler and left-handed batsman, He plays for Kent County Cricket Club/Kent and has represented England Lions cricket team/England Lions.

Coles made his first-class cricket/first-class debut for Kent County Cricket Club in their match against Loughborough University Centre of Cricketing Excellence on 15 April 2009. He had also played for Kent at under-13, under-15 and under-17 levels. Coles reached his maiden first-class century against Yorkshire County Cricket Club/Yorkshire by hitting a reverse sweep for six. He was awarded a county cap in August 2012.

He took 59 first-class wickets during the 2012 season which saw him called up to the England Lions squad and was included in their England Lions cricket team in Australia in 2012–13/tour of Australia in 2013. Unfortunately, he was sent home early from the tour for drinking beyond curfew hours more than once with Ben Stokes.

On 27 August 2013, Coles signed on loan for Hampshire County Cricket Club/Hampshire until the end of the season. In Hampshire's last game of the season against Essex County Cricket Club/Essex, Coles took match figures of 10-154, which prompted Hampshire into signing Coles in a 3-year deal.
