It's actually less likely now that they'd be interested in doing a deal with Gus. This just gives them enough room to keep Gus while they look at other people. If they want to keep Gus while they look at other quarterbacks, they have that option.

I think in fairness to Jerry he probably did not know the severity of the injury at the time. I think it's not fair to attribute those statements to him without him having all the information.

He wants to play football, period. Right now, the Cowboys drafted him, they have paid him money and they have not gotten much in return. He'd like to do his share.

I think he wants to play one more year.

If they want to sign someone else instead of Larry and release him, he'll end up playing somewhere else. Players have only so many options.

We've had discussions with Gus, but not much has been resolved. With Junior, there have been no discussions. We're assuming that each party believes they are better off separating from the other.

Everything is somewhat dependent on whether there is a CBA agreement. If there is, Gus' contract issue could easily be revisited after the Dolphins look at other quarterbacks. But the issue still needs to be dealt with one way or the other.
