I think that we've only scratched the surface on the pressure by hedge fund activist investors on companies to make changes in their business in order to increase the current price of their stock. We have a group of activist hedge funds now where the hedge funds essentially marshal over a trillion dollars of capital, joined in by many of the traditional institutions.
"Martin Lipton" is an American lawyer. He is a founding partner of the law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz specializing in advising major corporations on mergers and acquisitions and matters affecting corporate policy and strategy. He has written and lectured extensively on these subjects. From 1958–1978 Lipton taught courses on Federal Regulation of Securities law/Securities and Corporation Law as a Lecturer and Adjunct Professor of Law at New York University School of Law.
