We really think it's one of the biggest updates to IE in the past decade. [We] really listened to what our customers were saying and focused on three areas: security, making the tasks they do easier, and improving the platform for developers.

We want to get them to start using the product and get us some feedback. We still have a few months before we release publicly and we want to make this the best experience possible.

The big update is that it's public. All previous releases were limited.

But it is a beta and we're still taking feedback, fixing bugs, and working hard to ready the final release. Customers and partners have asked us to continue to be transparent on the work we're doing and to release regular builds that they can evaluate and test. We're committed to doing this.

Now we're going to use the time to clean up the fit and finish of the product and ensure the maximum compatibility and reliability between now and our final release.

We continue to encourage developers to test sites with this code because it is layout complete, meaning that the code is feature complete and no major changes are expected.
