I would have been drawn to this play anyway because I love the idea of two characters traveling a great distance and turning each other's lives around. But it's really exciting that I found a play that crosses over into my own life.
"Mary Megan "Mare" Winningham" is an American actress and singer-songwriter. She is an Academy Award, Tony Award and eight-time Primetime Emmy Awards/Emmy Award nominee, winning Emmys in 1980 and 1998.
Winningham began her acting career in the late 1970s on television. In 1980, she starred in the TV movie Amber Waves, winning an Emmy Award for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie/Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie. She received an Academy Award nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress/Best Supporting Actress for the 1995 film Georgia (1995 film)/Georgia. In 1998, she won a second Emmy for the TV Movie George Wallace (film)/George Wallace.
