"Marc Staal" is a Canadian professional ice hockey Defenceman (ice hockey)/defenceman and Captain (ice hockey)#Alternate captains/alternate captain for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League. He is the younger brother of Eric Staal and the older brother of Jordan Staal, both of the Carolina Hurricanes (Eric being captain and Jordan an alternate), and Jared Staal, who plays in the Hurricanes organization. Of the four brothers, Marc is the only defenceman.

I think I had a pretty good season, I improved a lot over the year. It's a pretty big jump from juniors to the NHL, especially now that it's winding down and every game is important. It'll be interesting if I get dressed for a game or two, a little nerve-racking.

I haven't really thought that far ahead, but if I end up getting on the ice against him, that would be pretty unbelievable. Playing against two of your brothers in the same year is kind of unheard of.

I haven't really been told anything but I might play against Philadelphia (tomorrow). It's pretty amazing. I wasn't expecting it at all until they called (Wednesday) and said they wanted me to join them on the road.

Right from the start of this game, we wanted that extra day of rest. Not having to play a pretty intense quarter-final game is a pretty good reward. We wanted that really bad.

I think I bring solid defensive play. I want to get on the ice, keep it simple and make sure they don't bring any chances.
