When people run for political office, they make statements that they believe serve their political purposes. This could be one of them.

He doesn't believe that occupying Iraq is a winning strategy for American troops. He wants the president and the Defense Department to level with the American people and show them a plan for leaving Iraq.

It's a problem that Republicans and Democrats alike need to solve. Oregonians are counting on us not to turn this into a political issue.

The governor naturally is very concerned about this. But he has total confidence that the commission will handle this and do the right thing.
