"Lloyd Millard Bentsen, Jr." was a four-term United States Senate/United States Senator (1971–1993) from Texas and the Democratic Party (United States)/Democratic Party nominee for Vice President in U.S. presidential election, 1988/1988 on the Michael Dukakis ticket. He also served in the United States House of Representatives/House of Representatives from 1948 to 1955. In his later political life, he was Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance/Senate Finance Committee and the United States Secretary of the Treasury/U.S. Treasury Secretary during the first two years of the Clinton administration.
