I love white pines, and they can be in my yard, ... But I like their plan for the reason that this state forest is so unique globally. In effect every area of white pine in the state forest is not being devoted to what is ours to contribute to the biodiversity of the rest of the world.

It seemed to be a critical area. At the public forum in August a number of people raised concerns about the exemption, and I didn't hear anyone come up with a very good defense about it being an all-or-nothing thing.

It's political advice. We think it would be a good idea to get support, but they may have another strategy. And they've really thought about it more than we have.
