We're ready to play, whether it's Purvis or anyone. But Purvis is a great way to start, with the tradition that we have. You can throw any speculation out the window; the games have always been close.

We didn't know what they were going to play on defense, and we had trouble in the first half. We made some adjustments, and we were able to keep our backs running in and out so they stayed fresh.

This is a good rivalry, and we try our best to beat each other on the field, but when it's all said and done, we're still friends.

But that's a first game for you.

But I'm ready for this heat to be over with.

We've been real good in the running game for a number of years with J.J. Smith (now at Pearl River Community College). None of these guys are quite at J.J.'s level, but they're good backs, and we're still able to succeed running the football.

I'm pleased we got out of here with the W.

We're winning, but we're still not playing real well.

Rather than risk a kid getting hurt in a game that doesn't mean anything, we'll take our chances on making mistakes in that first game.
