We don't want to say 'Hey, let's go close Bonita.' when maybe there's another school in the parish that would be a better candidate for consolidation.

Because of the ongoing court case, the board needed some time to talk with our attorney about how we have to handle this. The residents in those areas will have every opportunity to present their ideas to as we move through the process.

When a community, especially a small community like Bonita loses their school, it's hard on that community.

We hired them to look at everything the School Board had, buildings, schools, everything. We wanted somebody from outside of Louisiana who could be totally objective.

We've looked at some studies from out West, and typically schools that fall below 100 students don't stay open.
