The son of former Denver Broncos tackle Dave Studdard, he was drafted by the Texans in the sixth round (183rd overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played college football at Texas Longhorns football/Texas.

Look what he's done. He's brought a program back, and that's a big thing. He's the leader of the team. A lot of people say his stats aren't as good as Reggie Bush and all theirs, but shoot, he was out by the third quarter every game. We helped him do that, so it's cool. I love it, it's awesome.
