I think it's almost necessary ... in an academic setting, if you're studying it. It's especially valuable to see what the controversy is over, not just that there is a controversy.

I personally don't see the Internet as what the people are being addicted to. I see it as the social experiences that are offered by the Internet that people are addicted to.
