We set out to make a movie that let people think for themselves. Hollywood spends a lot of time and money trying to prevent that, but that's not the way I like to tell a story.

We wanted a horror film that removed that buffer of fantasy. We wanted to create a growing feeling of confusion, that moral uncertainty of actually identifying with the killer.
