I certainly hope these charges don't stick and that better things come out of the investigation. I have strong faith in Kirby as a person and a player. We just have to have faith and hope things are better than they look.

Last year, we were a tremendous defensive team, and the team continued to thrive, even when something like (Brown's suspension) happened. If they had let down, that would have been a tremendous disrespect to J.B. Obviously, we feel very blessed that J.B. is back with us.

In the second half they came out and showed what they could do. A lot of them played their first game of varsity football last week and you make your biggest improvement from Week 1 to Week 2.

That was a tough time for him. It kept him out of football, and he fell behind academically. It took forever going through the state system for him to get cleared to start working out for football after the accident, so he fell behind in his conditioning.

We had to get one week better. This showed we practiced hard, but we weren't quite all there concentration wise. But we dressed 52 players and they all played.

The problem with Daytona Beach is it took me forever to get my kids thinking that their life isn't over if FSU, UF and Miami weren't after them. I think the coaches have stepped it up around here and realized that this is part of our job.
