In a three-season career, Kiefer posted a 0–5 record with a 6.16 earned run average/ERA in 15 appearances, including four starting pitcher/starts, nine strikeouts, and 49? innings of work. He also pitched in the minors for 21 years and served in the U.S. Army during World War I.

Kiefer died in Utica, New York at age 75.

There were only two undefeated teams in this tournament and we drew the bracket that we were going to have to go through both of those if we wanted to stay on the winner's side of it. We'll do what we always do. Show up, strap our boots on and give it our best effort.
