When you talk about the glass movement in this country it's actually fairly young and it's at a time when Chihuly and the other forefathers if you want to use that term are still alive and working.

So he did this weaving for his mother and he put stained glass in it, flat glass and loved the way the light played with it. He actually melted some flat glass and used a lead pipe and blew a bubble and that was the beginning.

Chihuly believes art is for everybody. He thinks that everybody can be an artist. He doesn't think that it takes anything other than you want to and if he can do something where there are a lot of kids and they can ask questions and get all excited that's the ultimate for him.
