"James Calvin "Jimmy" Rollins", nicknamed ""J-Roll"", is an American professional baseball shortstop for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2000 and played with the team until 2014, becoming the team's all-time hits leader, and earning a reputation as an excellent defensive shortstop.

After growing up in Alameda, California, and attending Encinal High School, Rollins was drafted by the Phillies in the second round of the 1996 MLB Draft, spending most of five seasons with Phillies farm system/minor league teams before earning a promotion to the MLB team. In July 2001, Rollins became the Phillies' leadoff hitter and remained in that role for almost ten years. He made several Major League Baseball All-Star Game/All-Star Game appearances early in his career.

We're not devastated. It's definitely at lot tougher, but as long as you have a mathematical chance, anything can happen. We can catch fire and that's what we need to do.

It's all about getting yourself in the proper position to hit, ... You get up 400, 500, 600 times a year [Rollins had more than 700 plate appearances in 2001], you want to be in a good position to hit. That's what I mean by freeing up my swing.

Definitely it can be done.

Never give up. Never give in.

It might take a miracle, but it can happen.

The streak doesn't matter in the playoffs. Right now it's about getting that big trophy.

He put a couple of things into perspective, allowing me to free my swing up a little more, ... I think it's always good to hear from the opposite end of the spectrum.

It's a great event with a lot of eyes on the event. I'm going to give it everything I've got. I don't know if Chase and I will both play, but we'll see. It's a great reward to be part of the team.

He was in front of the plate. I didn't have a choice.
