Jim Rhodes
FameRank: 4

"James Allen Rhodes" was an American U.S. Republican Party/Republican politician from Ohio, and one of only six US state governors to serve 4 four-year terms in office. (The other five were Edwin Edwards, George C. Wallace/George Wallace, Jim Hunt, Bill Janklow, and Terry Branstad.) Rhodes is tied for the fourth longest gubernatorial tenure in post-Constitutional U.S. history at 5,840 days.

As governor in 1970, he sent Ohio Army National Guard/National Guard troops onto the Kent State University campus, resulting in the Kent State shootings/shooting of students on May 4. Four students were killed and nine others were wounded, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis.

I've heard Don Davis before and was glad he was coming here. Good stories are not dated. They're good forever. Some of them, you never forget.

The mayor's sending out letters to many of the business leaders in the area, asking for their financial help in this project. Personally, I'd like to see the project completed by Medal of Honor Day on March 25. That means getting it funded, the monument constructed and installed by then.

I've been to the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee, and we were delighted that things worked out so we could be here this weekend.

Everyone has a story to tell. You just have to loosen up and tell it.

This is something that is long overdue. And the mayor agrees with me. I just hope enough corporate sponsors step up.
