It was a surprise when I found out I had won the award. There are a lot of great athletic directors in the state, and they do an outstanding job at what they do. ... Just to be in the light with (former winners) is really fantastic. I'm really honored.

I want to be on top in whatever I do, and that's also what I want for the Russellville School District. We've been competitive in just about every sport we've played in. Each individual sport represents the Russellville School District in the best way it can. That's something I really want out of everything.

Our kids practice very hard in all types of weather, so it was good to see them rewarded for their efforts.

It's been fast and furious. With us changing classifications to AAAAAAA next year and everything else, there's been a lot going on. It's been exciting and there have been a lot of challenges. But, I'm awful glad to be back.
