A lot of it is just our fundamental understanding of these storms. If we had a better understating of how these storms work, how they intensify, we'd be able to make better computer forecasts.

Back then we didn't have satellites and we didn't have aircraft reconnaissance. So it's quite possible that a lot of those hurricanes had an 882-millibar pressure. We just weren't around there to see.
