He was selected by the Miami Marlins/Florida Marlins in the 2004 MLB Draft and made his MLB debut in 2005, recorded two career starts with the New York Mets in 2007 and was sent to the Seattle Mariners in 2009.

Those guys are good athletes out there. They're one of the best teams in the country. They are there for a reason. Hitters are hitters. No matter what level you're at, if you leave it up, they're going to hit it. If you get it down, they're not.

I think of Jered as another regular guy. He was highly sought-after coming out of college. On the field, he's a great guy. Off the field, he's a great guy. We just push for each other. We kind of think of each other as friends. If we ever had to go head-to-head, then, yeah, we'd compete.
