"Howard S. Jonas" is the founder of IDT Corp.. Although not raised Orthodox, this wealthy and generous philanthropist funds a range of Orthodox as well as other Jewish causes across the ideological spectrum, and has made major investments in Israel as well. It is estimated that 25 percent to 40 percent of the 5,000 employees at IDT are Orthodox.

Jonas founded IDT Corp. in August 1990 and has served as Chairman of the Board since its inception. Jonas served as Chief Executive Officer of the Company from December 1991 until July 2001, as President of the Company from December 1991 through September 1996, and as Treasurer of the Company from inception through 2002.
