Some people are very open, some people want to think about it, some people just say no.

However, these cases do serve to underscore the importance of making sure your immunizations are up to date for polio and other vaccine-preventable diseases.

For the general community in Canada, I would say that this is a reminder of the importance of keeping your children immunized.

Six of the seven have been contacted, and all are well. Our best strategy [right now in Minnesota] is to observe what's going on and make sure our cases are being properly diagnosed.

We will continue to follow up directly with people who may have been exposed to the virus.

Essentially we have been going house to house talking with them about the risk, offering the vaccine and attempting to collect specimens to see if the virus has been spreading. Some families have said, 'No, thank you, we do not want to interact with you at all.' Other families have said, 'Sure, we'll get vaccinated. We'll provide specimens.
