In the ski universe, Taos is an American classic, no question about it. It's a place where you truly earn your turns.

The shaped ski, which really came along just about 10 or 12 years ago, completely changed the sport. They are shorter with bigger tips and tails, which makes them much easier to turn.

Parks cater to the younger crowd and have gotten a lot of kids on a board, whether it's one board (snowboard) or two boards (skis).

What hasn't changed? That's the easier question.

The face of skiing literally has changed with the explosion of parks and pipes. Many of the resorts out there have started turning their resources toward terrain parks with features such as hits, jumps and rails.

Snowboards changed the sport well before 10 years ago. But there was a turf war raging at that time. But that's buried now.
