[The mother's] going to have needs and limitations so he's being called to step up to the plate to meet her needs and take some of that [pressure] off and be there as an emotional and physical resource.

This concept of a shared pregnancy is hopeful but relatively new. Many men are now saying, 'I want to share this responsibility from the beginning to the end'.

Always communicate and if someone's feeling overlooked or overburdened say, 'Look, I'm feeling so left out. I know you're busy, but can we make arrangements to spend quality time together?'
