"Francisco Javier Cordero" is a Dominican Republic/Dominican professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He has served as the closer (baseball)/closer for several teams. On June 1, 2011, Cordero recorded his 300th career save (baseball)/save with the Cincinnati Reds, becoming only the List of Major League Baseball career saves leaders/22nd player to reach that mark.

Cordero is frequently referred to by his nickname, CoCo, which is a combination of the last two letters of his first name and the first two letters of his last name. Cordero throws a hard fastball—capable of reaching the upper 90s, and also has an excellent slider that he can throw for strikes early in the count, and which he uses as his out pitch. He attended Colegio Luz Arroyo Hondo High School in the Dominican Republic.

I wanted to see how that felt, and that helped a little bit. I feel pretty good. There's no pain, just more stress from traveling. It's a little far from the Dominican to Arizona, but I think I'm OK. The last time I played catch I felt fine.

I'm not a fast starter in spring training, and I need to be careful. I want the Dominican Republic to win as much as anybody back home, but I also want to be able to help the team.
