Fortunately, no one was hurt which is very, very good considering the size of the storm. It could have been very bad.

Even though we closed the forest, (Rita) evacuees tried to find shelter in the campgrounds. At Caney Creek we are told there were 20 people in one of the buildings.

These are really kind of isolated pieces of forest. Most of our forests in East Texas are public land surrounded by private land.
