"Erin Mary Crocker Evernham" is an United States/American race car driver. In the past, she played soccer, tennis, and varsity lacrosse on both her high school and college teams. Her entrance to the world of top tier motorsports has been stalled due in part to a personal relationship between Crocker and her former boss, team owner and current husband, Ray Evernham.

I'm sure it helps.

I think Danica's doing a really good job but I don't necessarily understand why -- just because we're two women -- that we're always being compared.

I wish her a lot of success. I think she's doing a good job, and hopefully we can both put a good name on the map for women in racing.

Ray Evernham has given me a great opportunity and I have good people around me, so it makes things a lot easier, ... I'm very excited. It is a big step and I don't have that much stock car experience and I can't wait to get that first one over and done with. It's the opportunity of a lifetime.

It's not like they're just throwing me to the wolves and saying, 'Here's a girl, let's give her an opportunity.' Ray's really behind me, so he's put Bill with me and some of the top engineers, so I'm very thankful.

I come from a sprint-car background where the cars weigh about 1,200 pounds and have about 850 horsepower, so this car has less horsepower and weighs three times as much, so it's a big difference to me.

I just need to get laps.

I'm ready to fight for it, and I think I can make it happen. Like Ray and Kasey said, it's a matter of having the right equipment, getting the right funding, learning at the right rate, and not throwing myself into something I'm not ready for. So, there are a lot of factors. It really is a tough business, especially NASCAR.

Stock car racing is where it's at right now. All my heroes growing up, Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon, I watched them running USAC sprint cars and midgets. This is where they are.
