In an imperfect world, we had to make an imperfect choice. I'm not ashamed of it, and I'm not proud of it... We have begun a path that we believe will ultimately benefit our users in China.

If we determine that we are unable to achieve the objectives [we have set out], we will not hesitate to reconsider our approach to China.

Our hope is that our decision will prove to be the right one. We are not happy about it, but that's the requirement under Chinese law.

Our hope is that our mix of measures, though far from ideal, would accomplish more for Chinese citizens' access to information than the alternative. In an imperfect world, we made an imperfect decision.

We think we have made a reasonable decision though we cannot be sure it will ultimately be proven to be the best one.
