Amazingly, given that this was a very intense fire and a large fire and that you're talking about senior citizens, everyone self-evacuated except for one woman the police escorted out.

They do believe that the fire began in an upper story, but it's too early for us to have a cause it's still under investigation.

When our crews arrived, they found patients with symptoms that were consistent with carbon monoxide poisoning.

Four of them went to the hyperbaric chamber at Shock Trauma, they were experiencing more severe symptoms and had been for several days, severe flu-like symptoms. There were another four taken to St. Agnes Hospital for observation, they were experiencing more minor symptoms.

We're seeing a lot of these.

When conditions are dry like this, we are urging people to use extreme caution. Cigarettes are the prime culprits, but any spark can ignite a fire.
