I think now that we're starting to show people what we can do, what we're capable of, they're starting to respect us. So that gives everybody a lot more pride to be on this team.

I definitely wanted to get out quickly today and I did that. I stayed focused.

That win kind of stung a little bit. I came here today wanting to run better on this course than I did last time.

This course has always held something special for me. My sophomore year I got second here and I've always wanted to win a race on this course, so now I've got that.

I ran pretty close to what I did Saturday at Granite City. Jeff (Schirmer) stayed with me a lot of this race. I have to give him his props for doing that.

I knew we were going to have a pretty good defense. But I didn't know it was going to be this good. And I think it's really kind of shocked everybody, how well we're clicking right now.

There's always something about this course. We're always a couple minutes late or someone gets a cramp or my shoe comes untied, something always happens.

The defensive linemen that we have, they're really good. They're the reason that our linebackers are doing so well this year. They've been keeping the linemen off of us, so I have to give credit to them.

You have to be healthy to succeed. I was finally able to get my mileage up (over the summer) to where I could be competitive at state. I feel like I've reached that point.
