"Deb Patterson" is currently an assistant coach for the Northern Colorado Bears/Northern Colorado women's basketball team. Patterson is the former head women's basketball coach at Kansas State Wildcats women's basketball/Kansas State. She was relieved of her coaching duties on March 9, 2014. She is the all-time winningest coach in school history. On December 20, 2008 she won her 250th career game.

A native of Rockford, Ill., Patterson graduated from Rockford West High School then attended Rockford College, where she was a member of the Rockford College Hall of Fame after playing field hockey from 1975-79. The 2004 team went 24-8 including 12-4 in the conference, and finished 16th in the nation, by the AP poll. Over the last five years her teams have gone 70-10 on their home court, despite off-court turmoil involving the emotional abuse of many players and assistant coaches as reported by the Kansas City Star in October 2008.

Consistency is elusive for her. I think it's something she continues to strive for... but when you're surrounded by young players, that can be a difficult element.

They are a really physically, strong basketball team that plays so smart. They execute really well, and they have a real exciting freshman in Griffin. With Hardy they've got one of the best playmakers in the league, and their post players are so solid.

It was just a dog fight every possession. It wasn't pretty. It was a real defensive battle. In the end, I'm just glad we came out on top.

We went through segments of the game, that I thought we struggled a little bit with carelessness. I think some of our turnovers were because we forced players late in the shot clock to try and go make a play.

This is an extremely tough place to play, as you saw by the Iowa State comeback in the second half. Our team refused to let the momentum shift.

In the second half, I think the difference was that we didn't finish shots. I thought our execution was still as intense, we were committed, we didn't turn the ball over - but we didn't finish our shots.

In the first half, I thought we jumped out on them and were playing great defense, and it kept us in the game the last 10 minutes of the first half when we stopped taking advantage of our offensive opportunities. I thought we carried that over to the second half.

I loved the way we finished tonight, and I loved the way we finished the first half. It took us awhile to get cranked up defensively, but we really started getting aggressive there.

She was effective inside and out. She got good post-up position. She really jumped in at that point and got active and assertive.
