We are shocked and outraged by the nature and magnitude of this vandalism. Hate crimes like this one have the potential to polarize a school community and lead members of the targeted community to feel marginalized and insecure.

It must be shown that something that is already criminal was motivated by bigotry or bias because of, in this case, racial factors.

The measure of a community is not whether these things happen, it's how they respond.

It's not the ideal bill for us, but we believe it will make a material difference.
