Make sure there's a designated driver or get a cab. Never drink alone or on an empty stomach and don't drink to get drunk. People say that takes the fun out of drinking but that's the rule that psychiatrists and substance abuse programs use.

Those are what we typically see in the E.R.. Some 40 to 50 percent of what comes through the E.R. over the New Year's holiday is a direct result of drinking alcohol.

Many of (the bites) are relatively minor; usually bites in the legs and arms from people trying to break up a dog fight. The worst ones seem to be when a dog decides to attack somebody, but we don't see those too often.
