Obviously we are disappointed with the loss, the thing about it is that it is the start of the series and we still have another four games to redeem ourselves.

We need to ensure we get our one-day game right so that we can use that confidence and go straight into the India series.

Since I made my debut in 1999, this team that we've got and the guys we have around, there is a certain uniqueness about the spirit and about the team unity.

I thought they (New Zealand) had a solid foundation (224 for 1) to propel themselves to a score of 300 but the (West Indies) slow bowlers played an important part in the game and it is obviously something we'll be taking into our thinking tank, I thought we stuck well in the end after they got off to a good start.

I think we're just a little bit behind the eight ball at the moment. But I'm sure we're going to improve from here.

It is just unfortunate that we didn't click on at crucial points in games, both in the Test matches and one-day matches.

It started the very next day when we arrived after suffering five consecutive defeats in our regional one-day competition (in October 2005). And I'm sure every member of the team would agree with me that...it was a tough road to travel.

We fought really hard, all credit to the bowlers, everybody put in a big effort knowing that we were one bowler short.
