"Daniel Christopher Washburn" is an American List of American writers/writer and List of American print journalists/journalist based in Shanghai, China since 2002. He is currently researching a book about the development of golf in China, entitled Par for China. Washburn is represented by the New York-based literary agent Zoe Pagnamenta.

In September 2010, Publishers Marketplace reported Washburn had signed with Oxford, England-based Oneworld Publications to publish Par for China.

Washburn has written for Slate (magazine)/Slate, FT Magazine/Financial Times Weekend Magazine, Foreign Policy, Golf World, Golf Digest, Good (magazine)/GOOD, ESPN.com, Budget Travel, The Economist Group's Business China, Baseball America, Outside Magazine/Outside's GO, and the South China Morning Post.

Washburn's work was featured in the 2008 book, Inside The Ropes: Sportswriters Get Their Game On, edited by Zachary Michael Jack.

Washburn is also known in Shanghai for his various websites. He is founding editor of Shanghaiist, part of the Gothamist network of city websites.
