"Daniel Hamhuis" is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who currently plays for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Hamhuis played major junior hockey with the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and was selected 12th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. The 2001–02 WHL season/following year, he was awarded the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy and Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as the league's best defenceman and player of the year, respectively; he would also be named the CHL Defenceman of the Year/top defenceman in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), the governing body of major junior hockey in Canada. After a final season in the WHL, Hamhuis made his professional debut with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL), a minor league affiliate of the Predators. He made his NHL debut the next year for Nashville. After five seasons with the club, Hamhuis became an unrestricted free agent and signed a six-year contract with the Canucks. In his first year with the club, he helped Vancouver to the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals, where they lost to the Boston Bruins.

Our forwards can't hold up their forwards as they come over the blue line. So you know you're going to get hit. And some teams' third and fourth lines are just relentless about taking the body.

You wear down your penalty killers, and the guy who aren't killing the penalties are sitting on the bench with their legs stiffening up.

I think right away (following the two wins), you could see what they did (to us). We went into Minnesota with a lack of urgency. I don't know whether that's carried on, but (the Red Wings) took the opposite approach and they've been working hard since then.

I don't know if there's any ideal team to face. But any team that comes stumbling into the playoffs would be a good one.

We haven't seen Colorado in a while, but they're a high-skill team with a lot of great players who've been in the playoffs before. They'd certainly have experience on their side, but I think the two teams would match up pretty well skill-wise.

They've a very physical team, and I'm sure that would be a tough, tough series. We do have that 4-0 edge against them and that's a good mindset, but I think a series against them would be tough on any team.
