"Christopher Jon Weinke" is a former professional American football and baseball player. After spending six years in the Toronto Blue Jays minor league baseball system, he enrolled at Florida State University at the age of 26, and played quarterback for the Florida State Seminoles. He thereafter played professionally in the National Football League, where he spent most of his career with the Carolina Panthers.

Weinke played minor league baseball in the Toronto Blue Jays farm system from 1990 to 1996, advancing to class Triple-A (baseball)/Triple-A, before deciding to attend Florida State University. Head coach Bobby Bowden had initially recruited Weinke when he was a prep quarterback in 1989 at Cretin-Derham Hall High School. After quitting baseball, Weinke called Bowden, and Bowden offered him a scholarship with 1997 recruiting class. After arriving he quickly distinguished himself as a starting quarterback, leading the team to victory in the 1999 College football national championships in NCAA Division I FBS/National Championship. In 2000, at 28, he became the oldest person to receive the Heisman Trophy. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the 2001 NFL Draft, where he served mostly as backup quarterback until being released in 2006. He then spent one season with the San Francisco 49ers before leaving the NFL after the 2007 season.

I didn't have time to think about it.

Ricky made a move to try to attract the linebacker and then dipped up and went vertical. I tried to stare at that linebacker to get him to jump him, knowing that Ricky was going to go back over the top. We work that play with Ricky a lot. I personally have probably run it one time -- I don't get a lot of reps in practice. But that's kind of been one of our staple plays down in the goal-line area.

I knew right when Jake got hit that he was probably going to be dazed.

This is what dreams are made of. It has been too long.

I was excited. You never want to see someone go down, but I've been waiting for this opportunity for three years to get on the field. It was a perfect situation. There was a calmness about our football team when I went out there. Everybody just said, let's go down and score.

I was excited, ... You never want to see someone go down, but I have been waiting for this opportunity to get out on the field. It was the perfect situation.

I knew right when he got hit that he was going to be dazed. I didn't have time to think about it. I had been standing around all day. I just had to get loose. I was excited. You never want to see someone go down, but I've been waiting for this opportunity for three years.

There are 52 other guys on this football team that were counting on me when Jake went down and that's probably the most satisfying thing.

It wasn't all pretty, but we hit the plays that counted, ... It seemed like we were stopping ourselves forever. I told the guys, 'Just stay focused, sooner or later we're going to bust one.'
