We are expecting a major winter storm.

We're looking at very strong northeast winds and that's going to blow snow around and create drifts, and that's going to combine to make travel ? especially Sunday morning ? hazardous.

All the cold air stayed up in Canada. This particular storm is more typical of what we would see in southern New England in wintertime.

We expect the snow to begin around 6 to 8 p.m. and continue into early Sunday afternoon.

We're not expecting any kind of major event.

Wednesday night we have a chance of snow or rain and temperatures will be in the low 30s. That will continue into Thursday, but it's not going to be a big storm. It's going to be more of a nuisance - there shouldn't be any accumulation that effects anything in a negative way.

The best thinking right now is 8 to 15 inches. We make a forecast for the most likely event happening.

Winds are gusting to 37 mph on Nantucket. And the seas are still looking a little rough out there. But we don't anticipate significant effects.
