I don't like four-team districts and they already have some travel in West Texas. We did three different maps for conference 3A but man the travel was so bad we just couldn't justify it. We put some of those districts next to each other so they could match up.

It makes me feel good that we did something right.

They were looking for more equity within a district and we decided to survey the schools. Some people said they were playing in a district with schools twice our size and some of the games weren't competitive.

I think most people would rather be the largest among the smallest than the smallest playing with the largest. Some will like it. Some won't.

You're seeing this a little more in West Texas. A lot of communities are being forced to make tough choices.

They do play other schools in non-district but we didn't force them to do anything they didn't want to do. How long that can last, I don't know.

It's very rare in the 100-year history of the league. But it doesn't matter when it happens. ... Certainly the playoffs were not a concern. We got a couple of calls from people (saying), 'What are you going to do about the playoffs?' My response was that we didn't really care.
